I'm fairly new to the world of quilting. I've officially been quilting for about 3 years and during this time other quilters have suggested that there are some terrible, awful things in the sewing and quilting world. Of course I'm talking about:
Most of these "urban legends" were things I didn't even know I should be afraid of! Things like Y seams and invisible zippers seem terrifying to some sewers and quilters. I had no idea that these things were scary in the sewing world. I have also heard many conflicting opinions on sewing on the bias, using starch, and prewashing fabric.
So with all this new information I'm going to start a new series called:
I'll be doing some research into these "urban legends" and presenting my findings here. My hope is to prove that these things are not that scary if you know more about them and frankly right now I know nothing about them!
Here's where I would like your help! Is there anything in the sewing world that you have always heard was a sort of "urban legend"? I would love to do the research to debunk it for you! Let me know in the comments!

What fun this will be to keep a eye on! Many of the Horror stories that I have encounter have not been scary at all such a curved piecing, set in seams and even paper piecing. Not sure if is a urban legend but the area I have a hard time wrapping my head around is connecting "Quilt as You Go".
