Baby Shower Madness

I'm in baby shower madness mode! One of my oldest friends is expecting her first baby in March! I'm so excited I can't even begin to express it! They are having a little boy, Christopher Koa, to be called Koa. Koa is a tree that grows in Hawaii that is used to make surfboards and since his parents were married there and the Daddy-to-Be is an avid surfer the name is perfect!

Of course the minute I found out the good news I thought "what am I going to make for him?" So I did a little perusing on Pinterest and now I just can't stop myself! I want to make everything! However since that is not possible I have decided on these few things:

Grab-n-Go Diaper Change:
I've seen these bags a couple of times on Pinterest and loved it.  I thought they would be very useful.  They contain everything needed for an on the go diaper change.  I used 3 coordinating fabrics and made the drawstring bags with this tutorial and this blog for inspiration.

Spud and Chloe Leaf Blanket:
This leaf baby blanket was super easy to knit and only took about 2 days!  The yarn is very thick so it went by in a flash!  You can find the pattern here.  The Mama-to-Be is going to use the blanket in his newborn photos and I can't wait to see how they turn out!

Shoes:
I made Koa 3 pairs of these adorable baby shoes!  I used the same fabrics from the Grab and Go Diaper Bags.  The pattern was free and can be found here.  I can't wait to see little baby feet in these shoes!

Burp Cloths:
I made some hand sewn burp cloths also in coordinating fabrics to the Grab and Go Diaper Bags.  The back sides are bath towels I found at Target.  I figured they would be good and absorbent for any baby fluids that might occur!  Burp cloths are pretty self explanatory to make but I used some measurements from this blog.

Travel Wipe Cases:
These were a special request from the Mama-to-Be.  She had found them on the internet but could't find any fabrics that she liked.  We talked about what she wanted and came up with these 2 designs.  She wanted one a little more manly so the Daddy-to-Be could carry it and one a little more girly for herself! I didn't use a tutorial for this one, just my own thoughts and ideas.  I am really proud of how these turned out and Mama-to-Be loved them!

Pom Pom Hat:
This hat is so cute and I can't wait to see little baby Koa in it!  I made up this pattern as I went along and I love how this yarn knitted up!  To me it looks like water.  Mama-to-Be loved the hat and wants to use it in newborn photos as well!

Name Painting:
And last but not least I painted a picture for Koa's room.  His name in Hawaiian means brave, bold, and fearless.  Obviously the wave is perfect for this family and the Daddy-to-Be absolutely loved it!  He thanked me multiple times and admitted to being a self proclaimed "art geek".  I'm pretty proud of it myself!

I had a great time at the shower and the new family made out like bandits!  I'm so excited to meet the little man in the next few weeks, he couldn't be a luckier little boy!

Wishing you big waves and an artful day!
