Project Life Addiction

I still have that Project Life addiction and I don't see it ending anytime soon!

I did this Easter layout with some new supplies that I got at Michaels and at Rock, Paper, Scissors over the last couple of weeks!

I'm loving this process because it's not only a fun crafty thing to do but it's also a great way to preserve these memories!

What crafty addiction do you have??

Wishing you big waves and an artful day!

Project Life

Have you guys heard about Project Life???

You can find some info about it here but to summarize:
Project Life® is an ultra-simple, über-stylish solution for getting your photos off your phone and computer, out of boxes, and into albums. Gone are the days of cutting, pasting, buying oodles of supplies, and spending hours on an album. Or even hours on just one page.

I have been addicted to Project Life since I started in January.  I have been mainly doing the "big" events of 2015, but I recently organized a huge amount of pictures that were stored under my bed.  Since I now have these so nicely organized into years, I have decided to go back and scrapbook those photos.   These are only the pictures that have ended up in my possession, my mom still has a majority of the pictures from these years!

Here's a peak into 1993 from my point of view:

My Project Life Album
Some things I learned: I obviously had a Polaroid Camera and put it to good use, ALWAYS date your photos, and that in this digital age it is still fun to have a physical copy of my pictures!

Carve December

Happy New Year!!!  Let's talk about December!

I couldn't resist Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's  Carve December, she's carving rubber stamps everyday in December!! I love her style, inspiration and blog. I have been preparing for Project Life journaling in 2015, so I thought it would be fun to join in and carve some rubber stamps for my journaling project. I have carved stamps before, I took a class at an art retreat a few years back but never really did much with it. Julie's carving has sparked a new interest for me. I find carving very relaxing. If you wanna give it a try Julie has an online class here. Julie is a mixed media artist and does some fun sewing projects and makes all kinds of fun fabric. You might want to check her blog for some great ideas. There's also a lot of info on stamp carving on pinterest and youtube, so if you'd rather try it for free snoop around the internet you're sure to find some good info. Here's my attempts!
I use stamps on fabric as well as my paper crafts. For stamping on fabric I add a fabric medium(there are lots of brands to choose from, this is one example) to acrylic paint and stir well, then pour it on a piece of wax paper, roll a brayer into the paint to coat the brayer and roll it over the stamp to load the paint on the stamp, then press it down onto the fabric. I did not carve the stamps used below in my projects, but I plan to use my own designs in the future! Stamps with little detail work best and are also easier to carve!
I stamp the fabric before I assemble the project I am using the stamped fabric in. I like having fabric that is unique and one of a kind. Stamping is an easy way to get original fabric!

Weekly Inspiration LInky Party

Weekly Inspiration Linky Party!

Happy Friday! It's my turn again! Here's what's visions have been dancing in my head!! We're back after a fun time in Disney for Drew's 21st birthday celebration! Nini~

1. Paper Stars

I used these two tutorials to make some christmas decorations, I had to combine the pics from Origami Paper Star  and the video from  homemade-gifts-made-easy.com to pull it all together the video alone wasn't enough for me! I used sheet music for mine.

My first attempts!

As you can see I did a lot of folding and unfolding, but I got it now!!

2. Alabama Chanin

Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin inspires me a lot. I could listen to her talk all day. There's something about her accent and voice that captures my attention and makes me want to be good, spread love and make things. She calms me. I love that her company employees sewists to hand sew the items for sale at Alabama Chanin, but it makes her garments really expensive. So, she also sells all her fabric, supplies and patterns, so if you can't afford to buy the real thing, you can make them for yourself and save tons of money.(did I mention I just love her?!) If you want to be inspired by her too, watch Natalie as she tells you all about her company AND how to love your thread.

This flag is available for sale on the Alabama Chanin website.

3. Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's Carve December

I am very inspired by Julie's rubber stamp carving! I learned stamp carving previously and have whipped out the carving tools and started some fun stamps! Look at what she has carved! I am going to use my stamps for my Project Life journal.

She has an eye for carving interesting and useful stamps!! Ha ha!!!

Julie is a talented artist who does fun things with fabric too...I guess that's why I like her so much, she likes all the things I do!!
