Weekly Inspiration Linky Party

This week's inspiration comes directly from FRANCE!

1.  St. Paul-De-Vence
These were our people!  We absolutely loved St. Paul!  It was a spectacular art town way up on a hill with the French Riviera coast only about 20 minutes away.  I think it's safe to say that St. Paul hasn't seen the last of us.  This statue was perched perfectly on the edge of town and doesn't look like much from one direction and looks incredible from another!

2.  Arles
This is is a beautiful garden in the center of a hospital.  This is the same hospital where Van Gogh was treated after he cut his ear.  VAN GOGH! Here's a little tidbit we learned while we were touring Arles:  Van Gogh never painted this garden while he was actually in Arles.  He painted it from memory while he was in a mental health institution in Saint Remy because he had limited access to the outside world while being treated and therefore a shortage of subject matter.  Arles also had ancient Roman ruins in it, who'd have thought?

3.  Carcasonne
Ok everybody, be cool, but WE WERE IN A REAL CASTLE!!! You may recognize this castle: it was where Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was filmed.  It's crazy to think that it stood during the Crusades in the 1200's and saw the downfall of an entire religious sect.

It's really hard to wrap our brains around all the history and amazing things we saw.  It was truly a once in a lifetime vacation and I couldn't have been happier to share it with Nini!

What's been inspiring you in these weeks that we've been gone?  Let us know by sharing your link below!

  3. Love seeing these photos of southern France, thanks for sharing (via Mary Ann Moss's blog). I've driven past Carcassone and had a quick visit to the city a few years ago but didn't get to the castle, definitely on my "to do" list!!
