Isn't this blogging world fun?! I have never entered a quilt show, I've been quilting for about 6 years and frankly I don't want anyone looking that closely at my quilts!!! Let's just say I'm measurement challenged! I've decided that improv quilting is my new best friend, if it doesn't come together even, just slap another piece of fabric on it and stitch it up!! Modern Quilting is my passion. When I heard of the Blogger's Quilt Festival, I thought, heeeeey....this. is. for. me. I control how people see my quilt, peeeeerfect!! So here's my entry, I call it Orbs on the Prairie.
I got my inspiration and how to from the book Quilting Modern by Jacquie Gering of Tall Grass Prairie Studio and Katie Pederson of Sew Katie Did. I sized it down for wall hanging size, the 4 1/2" squares wouldn't have allowed for many orbs to show up in such a small area, so I sized them down to 2 1/2 inches. It was fun to make, putting everything on the design wall and arranging things again and again until it was just the way I liked it. I added prairie points for more fun, I never made prairie points before, so I thought I'd add them for interest and something unexpected as well as learn something new along the way. Quilt measures 19"X25".
The background fabric is Sketch by Timeless Treasures, the orb fabrics are from my scrap bins.
